Statistical Advising - WHAT (includes "Tutor" list)

WHAT: Introductory Level Statistics & SPSS Help for 4000, 4001, 4170 Undergraduates.

N.B.  1) This is not a statistical tutoring service and does not replace or supersede course directors' or TAs' help in this area - who are your primary support.  ****This service is not appropriate nor available to / for 3000 / 2000 level courses or for assignments.****

2) GROUPS - members of 4170 groups must each make their own individual 1/2 hour Stats Advising Booking.

For your assistance we have prepared a list of Stats Tutors you can hire. Please refer to this list of Stats Tutors.

Note that each session is limited to half hour. Please bring your laptop and have your data on a USB card so your booked time can be maximized!

HOW:

2) This is "Introductory Level Statistics & SPSS Help for 4000, 4001, 4170, Undergraduate Theses" and is not appropriate nor available to / for 3000 / 2000 level courses or for  course assignments.

3) GROUPS - members of 4170 groups must each make their own individual 1/2 hour Stats Advising Booking, group bookings are not possible.

4) Please bring your laptop and have your data as well as any additional materials on a USB drive to gain maximum benefit from your booked session.

  • Only one 1/2 hour appointment per week may be booked; however, un-booked time slots can be picked up on the day on a Drop-In basis. Check with the Stats advisor.
  • You will get a confirmatory e-mail in approximately 48 hours (N.B. e-mail is checked Monday - Friday, not weekends!).
  • Pre-booked appointments are preferred.
  • Click on your preferred date and time.
  • Check-in with staff in BSB 160 PRC Reference desk at your confirmed date and time.

Statistical Consulting Services and Workshops for Honours Thesis Students 

The Statistical Consulting Service (SCS) at York University offers FREE workshops and drop-in statistical consulting exclusively for 4th year students enrolled in PSYC 4000, 4001, 4170, and 4175.

If you have questions about research designs, setting up your study, or statistical analyses stop by the consulting office (BSB 329).

Workshops will be held on topics of interest throughout the fall and winter semesters.

Drop-in Individual Statistical Consulting:

- Drop-in Hours for Individual Statistical Consulting in BSB 329 (no appointment necessary):

* Mondays - January 8th to April 2nd, 2018 -  (9:30 - 11:30)
* Fridays - March 2nd to March 30th, 2018 -  (10:30-12:30)

Registration is MANDATORY for each of the workshops (space is limited).

Are you a 4th year student in PSYC 4000, 4001, 4170, or 4175?

York’s Department of Psychology and Statistical Consulting Service (SCS) are jointly offering free workshops and drop-in statistical consulting (on research design & data management/analysis).

No registration required for Drop-ins.

Statistical Consulting Services (SCS), a unit of the Institute for Social Research, also offers statistical consulting services for students conducting thesis projects.

Such students should try to resolve their questions with Joshua Quinlan [ joshuaq@yorku.ca ] the designated, statistical consulting TA for PSYC 4000/4001/4170/4175.
