The Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) - multicultural supplement to the manual for ASEBA school-age forms & profiles documents the research for the multicultural norms, and illustrates practice applications of the norms in various settings. The ADM 7.X Module for Ages 6-18 with Multicultural Options is installed on the PRC laptop and adds four new 2007 scales: a) Obsessive-Compulsive Problems; b) Post-traumatic Stress problems; c) Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (not on the YSR); and d) Positive Qualities (on YSR only). Multicultural Norms are available now, for Ages 6-18, for CBCL, TRF, and YSR Forms.
The Multicultural Guide provides a quick reference for multicultural applications of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), Teacher's Report Form (TRF), and Youth Self-Report (YSR). The Guide is tailored to those who are familiar with the forms, their profiles, cross-informant comparisons, and the Multicultural Supplement to the Manual for ASEBA School-Age Forms and Profiles. The Supplement should be consulted for details of the research basis for the multicultural norms, and it also provides details of the four new scales that were added in 2007.
The book "Multicultural Understanding of Child and Adolescent Psychopathology: Implications for Mental Health Assessment" by Thomas M. Achenbach and Leslie A. Rescorla is included. This book synthesizes an array of international findings to broaden the knowledge base on cultural variations in children's emotional and behavioral problems. Drawing on both empirically based and diagnostically based approaches, the authors examine similarities and differences in the prevalence, patterns, and correlates of particular disorders. They distinguish between culture specific and more general problems in adaptation , identify instruments and procedures that are particularly sited to multicultural assessment, and discuss the implications for developing more effective services.
